Inhalt
This course will look at the long-term process of religious change in England. The approach will be thematic and interdisciplinary, studying the ways in which religious culture was created in late medieval England. Change became possible because of both top down elements such as the growing confidence of secular government in the religious sphere and the development of popular religion through preaching, drama and spiritual literature. By the end of the course students should have a knowledge of late medieval English social history and an understanding of the wider context of religious change.
